Saccharomyces boulardii is a unique, non-pathogenic and tropical yeast (fungus). Unlike most probiotics which are bacteria based, Saccharomyces boulardii is a beneficial yeast - a hardy, acid-resistant, temperature-tolerant micro-organism that is not affected by antibacterial agents or antibiotics.

Saccharomyces boulardiiis a yeast, originally extracted from the lychee fruit. It is a micro-organism that differs greatly from other better-known species, such as acidophilus andbifidobacteriumbacteria strains for example.
